abstract = {The present work reports on the influence of nickel molar loading and impregnation solutions, nitrate salts and copper and nickel ammonium complexes, on the synthesis of Ni-Cu catalyst supported on alumina for obtaining carbon nanofibers by catalytic chemical vapor deposition of methane. These catalysts were characterized by N 2 adsorption-desorption, x-ray Diffraction, Thermo-Gravimetric Analysis and Scanning Electron Microscopy for the carbon nanostructures analysis. Therefore, it could be significant to study the resistance to microplastic deformations based on microhardness changes on the surface, and the associated accumulation of fatigue damage. The present work is part of a research study being carried out with the aim of proposing a new method based on microstructural changes, represented by a fatigue damage indicator, to predict fatigue life of steel structures submitted to cyclic loads, before macroscopic cracking. The effect of the cation exchange capacity (CEC) on the basal spacing and the thermodynamics properties is assessed. For other conditions of indentation, different contact area functions, which take into account the effective truncation length or the radius of the rounded indenter tip, as well as some fitting parameters, have been proposed. However, most of these functions require a calibration procedure due to the presence of such parameters. To avoid such a calibration, in the present communication a contact area function only related to the truncation length representative of the indenter tip defect, which can be previously estimated with high resolution microscopy, has been proposed. This model allows the determination of consistent indentation data from indenter displacements of only few nanometers in depth. When this proposed contact area function is applied to the mechanical characterization of a TiHfCN film of 2.6 ?m in thickness deposited onto a tool steel substrate, the direct determination of the hardness and elastic modulus of the film leads to values of 35.5 ± 2 GPa and 490 ± 50 GPa, respectively.},
